Head of sustainable practice The Travel Foundation

With a background in tour operating, Julie supports businesses and governments to embed sustainable thinking and doing into their tourism strategies and operations. As the lead practitioner in developing the Travel Foundation’s portfolio of ‘knowledge products’, including tools and training, Julie’s experience includes: developing minimum standards for sustainability for hotels in Cyprus; running resource efficiency workshops in the Caribbean, Asia, North Africa and Europe; capacity building with SMEs in more than 20 destinations; designing and delivering `train the trainer courses’ and the development of the Travel Foundation’s online training platform.

Julie’s approach is practical, solution orientated, and audience focused. Her most recent engagement was at IMPACT (a national dialogue on the contribution of tourism to Canada’s sustainable future) where she delivered a keynote on tourism’s ‘Invisible Burden’.
